I will be only taking a few mins of your valuable time.
With all the global challenges we are facing today, many are pushed to the forefront while others lack attention. I believe that it is my responsibility to create awareness, encourage dialogue and promote change.
Child marriage is an alarming large-scale human rights crisis across South Asia. South Asia accounts for almost half of child marriages that occur globally. As defined internationally, it is the marriage where one or both spouses are under the age of 18. Now you might be wondering why such an act may still be happening? There are many contributing factors involved. Several of the more prominent ones are poverty, gender equality, traditions and religious or social pressures. Research provides crucial evidence that child marriage doesn’t just impact the lives of 15 million girls every year but has a negative impact on the economic development of countries. You see, when a young girl is essentially deprived of her childhood, she is no longer able to be a reinvest in their own family or reducing their expected earnings. By ending child marriage, countries are able to not only boost their national earnings by 1% but also save trillions of dollars that could significantly impact the global economy.
I have created a digital poster with the intention of inspiring thoughts and ideas that could lead change.
