Hey, everyone. I hope all of you are doing well.
[How this border transformed a subcontinent ](https://youtu.be/r5Ps1TZXAN8)
I was watching this video today. In the video, many people spoke about the bloody partition, their childhoods destroyed and families left distraught because some random guy decided to draw a line hastily to split our two countries. There are a bunch of school kids from Pakistan and India who facetime each other in the video and they talk about jalebis, paneer and cricket with their childlike enthusiasm. The adults who lived together in these communities talk about their friends and how they all lived together. It was beautiful to watch but heartbreaking at the same time.
I know that our countries keep bickering with each other. I know we’ve political differences, border issues and so much more. And it pains me to see the amount of hate we’ve towards each other. At least, on social media sites I mean. Obviously they represent a very minute part of the population, but it’s still horrible. In a place where there’s so much hate, I just wanted to write about the commonalities and the things that I love about our countries. I’ve always wanted to visit Pakistan and one day when I’m a bit older and I earn enough money to, I probably will. I have also wanted to try the Pakistani Halva Puri, hahah. xD Pakistan also has some of the most beautiful valleys in the world and even just seeing the pictures are a treat to the eyes. 🙂 Both our countries love cricket! I think it’s fair to say that we have similar cuisines as well? I wish that we would think about all of this before we start writing a mean comment to someone from the other side. At the end of the day, we are all just people looking to live peaceful lives.
We all are living in tough times right now and things are incredibly bleak all over the world. People have lost jobs, many families have lost their loved ones and along with that there’s also so much hate. If you’ve ever come across a message of hate from a fellow Indian on the internet, I’m sorry. Please know that they don’t represent all of us!
I just hope and pray that all of our brothers and sisters on the other side and doing well and I hope that we can get through this crisis together.
We have so much to celebrate, so much love to give and so many things we’ve in common. And I just felt like I wanted to write to all of you and this seemed like a nice place to do that. I hope that one day our governments can rise above differences and find a peaceful solution once and for all. But I think before that, we can spread love among each other.
Take care and stay safe, Pakistan. Lots of love from India. <3
(Also I don’t know if this kind of post is allowed in the sub? If it’s not, I’m super sorry.)
